This is a double page spread article by the Daily mail (tabloid) of a dog than can do extraordinary stuff, such as ironing. I believe the target audience for this double spread is men and women aged mid twenty’s – 65 that are mostly likely to be working class. The reason why I believe this is because the language used is informal words, such as ‘wow’ and ‘hubby’ used in the text and feature line. Also the main story of this article would be seen as entertaining to the working class but mostly likely to be seen as ‘stupid’ by the middle and upper class. Also the house style layout of this double page spread is half text half pictures, I like this layout because at times individuals could get bored of the story and much prefer images to tell the story for them. Also as working class individuals are perceived to have not much intellectual knowledge, therefore a lot of images would be the best way to get the feature story across to them. The house style of colour used is not just black white there is some colour to it, such as red and the images are bright. I think this is much better to have some colour to it instead of the traditional black and white used in newspapers because it may attract the audience’s eye to stop and view the newspaper. Also on this double page spread it features an advertisement for ‘Tesco’s’ stating they are holding a clothing sale. This relates to the target audience of working class adults as they are most likely to go shopping for food and clothes in Tesco’s. This advertisement on the double page spread may influence them to by the newspaper as they probably have a lot of trust in their local grocery store.
This is a billboard poster of the film ‘Rango’. This billboard is aiming for its target audience of young children aged 3-11 to go to the cinema and watch it. I believe this is the target audience because the house style used is very bright, eye-catching, picture and cartoon like. The main colours used are bright blues, greens and oranges which are colours associated with young children. The font styled used is very bold and curly like, this is also associated with children as the font style looks very fantasy, and something that most children are interested in. also the billboard is not wordy, this maybe because of the targeted audience. Young children are not keen of reading loads of words their more focused on the main image, the title of the film, the date and who’s featuring in the film. All aspects of this has been covered on this billboard poster. Also the fact that the actor ‘Johnny Depp’ name is in bold pure white text to make it stand out, this may have been done purposively to attract kids to view this film at the cinema as some may recognise his name as he has featured in some popular children’s films, such as ‘The pirates of the Caribbean’ which is immensely well known. Also I like how the realise date of the film is in bold writing as it helps alert audiences when to go to the cinema and watch it.
This a billboard poster advertising Katy Perry’s new concert film which is to be shown in cinemas. I like the house style of this billboard poster and how the creator has used a black background and the use of dark and light purples reflecting her face. This then makes the audience automatically look at her face and recognise the film is featuring her, as it is the brightest element on the poster. Also I like how the feature line ‘Katy Perry’ is in big, bold and in white text as it also stands out from the black background. Also I like how the taglines are noticeable at the top of the poster. The use of the tag lines that read ‘incredible’ are very tactile and beneficial as it influences readers to go and watch the film as the words used praise the film. The main image used of Katy Perry looking straight into the camera, is a very good aspect of the poster as I believe by Katy Perry looking ahead influences the reader to take notice to the poster as her dynamic eyes are on the audience. One downfall to this billboard film poster is that it is not that informative in the sense that the date that the film is realised is not visibly notice, which is a very important aspect of a billboard film poster.
This is a billboard poster of the film ‘public enemies’ featuring Johnny Depp. I believe the target audience for this billboard poster is males aged 18 – 45. The reason why is because the house style has a masculine feel to it (the use of the colours white, back and cream), it is very bland. I think the colours used are not effective at all as theses colours can easily blend into many surroundings and not catch individual’s eyes for them to view it. An aspect to the poster I think is good and effective in the sense that the big bold black writing that stands out from the white background informs viewers what the film is called, who is featuring in it, what it is about and when it comes out in the cinemas. The main image depicted of Johnny Depp holding a crime, gives an idea to the viewer of the poster that the film is possibly about crime, violence and action which is again associated with males, they are most likely to watch the film. Also I like the house style layout, the way how the poster is divided into two sections, one section is of an image and the over is the informative side of the film. I believe this style looks better than having all kinds of informative information floating around the poster as it can be very time consuming and complicated for the viewer to take in.
This is a radio advertisement for a newspaper; I believe the target audience of this radio advertisement is individuals of a young age probably 16 – 25 years of age. The main reasons for this are that the voice used to promote this newspaper is computer generated and us individuals associate computer technologies with youths of today as they are the most likely age group in society to use it. Also the language they have used is informal, for example use of the words ‘latest’ and ‘greatest’ which then tells us this is not a serious newspaper that features stories such as political issues, as it would of used formal language to spread the importance of the story. This can then relate to its target audience as they are more likely to read something informal. Also the background music is very loud, bubbly and dance like which corresponds with the type of newspaper it is promoting. I think youths are more likely to listen to this radio advertisement just by the music as most will find it is something they usually listen to. I like how the radio advertisement is only 18 seconds long, it is sharp and quick which keeps listeners alert and not bored.
This is a 30 second radio advertisement persuading individuals to apply to the University of Windsor. I like how the speakers on this advertisement are both male and female, this widens the target audience gender for male and female. Also both speakers have a confident, happy, and persuasive tone to their voices. This is a good aspect of the radio advertisement as the aim of the advert is to convince listeners to apply to the university or at least research into it, as the speakers do instruct the listeners to go on to their website. Also both speakers use positive words to describe the university, such as ‘friendly’,‘excellent’, ‘quality’ and ‘never out of place’ all of these words/attributes are necessary for its target audience of undergraduates or even postgraduates when applying for a university. Also another aspect of the radio advertisement that I think is good is the use of sound. The background music has a happy, cheerful and free living tone to it, which gives of the impression that this university guarantees you happiness and freedom, two things that students value when looking for the perfect university.
This a billboard of newspaper advert. I believe the target audience for this billboard is middle aged individuals, as the house style seems to be very basic and dull. The colours used are white and blue, which gives of a sense of that the advertisement is professional. I like how the important information is very clear visually, as the text is large and the white font standout of the dark blue background. I like how the image of the newspaper is at the edge of the billboard and the fact that it is sealed up, makes me think that it is full of new news. I think it is a good idea that the text is at the top of the poster to show importance that this newspaper is the country’s ‘Most read newspaper’. This then influences the audience to buy the newspaper due to its persuasive writing.
I
discovered this possible font for my front cover of my newspaper on the website
'Dafont'. I like how the font is looks neat, formal and clear. It will be easy
for the reader to notice what newspaper this is and also the font looks formal
which fits in with the target audience 'Middle class' individuals who are
middle aged.
This is another possible font type that I found on 'Dafont' for the front cover of my newspaper. I do like this font because it is very bold and noticeable. However, I believe this font is too informal looking, does not look neat.
Inside the Guardian newspaper
I was flicking through the guardian to find inspiration for my newspaper. I found a page where the picture of the writer and their name was above the story featured. I liked the layout and design of it, I thought it looked professional and more interesting for the reader as the story becomes more personal.
