How did you use media technologies in the construction and research,
planning and evaluation stages?
When thinking of ideas of what I should produce for my media products I created a survey on ‘survey monkey’ that got distributed to large audience. I done this so I could get responses and look for common trends that I could base my media products on. For example, from my survey monkey I was able to find the trend that the majority of my audience enjoyed reading crime stories in newspapers. Therefore, I decided that the main topic throughout my media products was to be crime. I also used ‘Survey Monkey’ at the end of my project to gain constructive criticism from the same audience as the start of the project.
The media technologies I have used through this process have all been
effective. When researching how I should construct my media product I used, texting,
filming interviews and surveys to find out who my target audience are and what
they expect to see on a newspapers and billboards and what they should hear on
a radio ad. Also I used the internet and newspapers that I bought from local
newsagents to find inspiration and influence to how I should layout my media
products so it attracts my target audience. For my radio advertisement I used
YouTube to search for examples of newspaper radio adverts and also made sure I
listened to the radio more often to listen out for radio ad. By doing this I
was able to find out that most radio ads had jingles to alert there audience
that there is an important message coming up, this why I chose to incorporate
this aspect into my own work so it also grabs the audience’s attention. I used blogger to present my project journey, from researching to post
production to my final production. Blogger allowed my work to look professional
and organised for audiences. I also used ‘Prezi’ and ‘Mixbook’ to present my
written work, such as research analysis. I believed this made my work look more
creatively appealing than if it was just pasted into blogger.
For my
newspaper and billboard I used the professional camera the DSLR to take my
images, as it is of a good quality and would make the media product more
visually appealing, which would then attract a wider audience. Also I used
Photoshop to create my media pieces (newspaper and billboard), I found
Photoshop easy to use when constructing my work as I have used it before for
previous projects. For recording my radio ad I used garage band on the IMac
laptop, as the quality was very good the speaker sounded clear and effective.
I used
‘YouTube’ throughout my project to research into radio advertisements so I
could gain an in-depth understanding of what features should be on a radio
advertisement, such as jingles and what makes radio advertisements make you
want to listen to them. Most of the time I found out that the speaker had to be
effective, meaning a clear voice so the listener is able to understand it. I also
used YouTube to upload my filmed video of my audience talking about what they
want from my media products. I also uploaded my final radio advertisement onto YouTube.
When creating
my media pieces, the billboard and newspaper I used Photoshop. When using Photoshop
I was able to create advertisements that would feature on my newspaper and the
layout of my newspaper and billboard.
